Surviving GBV
Surviving GBV

I am 24 years old girl, leaving with my mother, siblings and stepfather who is very abusive to my mother and myself. He was working and a bread winner of the family. He started abusing me sexually. I tried to tell my mother and she did not help me because she was afraid to be physically abused and that my stepfather will with draw buying food for the family.

Eventually when I realized that my mother is not going to take any action, I heard about Kebotlhokwa Care Center and I approached them for help. I was so depressed, and they provided shelter for me and counselling and assisted me to report the matter to the police. My stepfather is awaiting a court case, I have recovered from the fear. A restraining order has been issued against him.
