Defilement cases
Defilement cases

  1. I am now 17 years of age, and I have 2 children, I break from school twice due to defilement by my uncle. The first child I was 14 years old, the matter was reported to the police and social workers of the area. But I was not moved from the home where I was abused, I stayed in the same home/house with my abuser. The DNA was done and it came positive. The case has been pending, I ended up being pregnant for the second time by the same uncle, and it was when I had the opportunity to meet with Kebotlhokwa, who really stepped in, firstly, they moved us (Me.my mother, four siblings, my daughter) from the abuser’s place, by then I was already 7 months, with no clothes for the new baby.

I was also sickly, because I had an operation to deliver my first child because I was still a child. I was admitted at the hospital when I was eight months since the operation was threatening to open. I ended up giving birth to my second daughter through operation again.

Kebotlhokwa bought the a bag full of baby clothes for my new born, and it was not only that, they brought food to augment what I get from the Social services. Through the assistance of Kebotlhokwa and the Social services, I have gone back to school to do my form two, this is very difficult for me because if it was not that I was defiled I should have completed my Junior Certificate. It is so difficult for me because I am doing the same level with my younger brother.

The other stressful thing is that, the cases are still hanging and it is very difficult for me to heal and move forward because, I am know that any day the first trail can start anytime, since Kebotlhokwa is pushing for it.

This whole thing is constant fear, like just last week, I had to travel to Marina hospital for the DNA for my second child, this is during school, days. This abuse has really stole my childhood. I truly appreciate the counselling and material support, I get from Kebotlhokwa.

I recommend that anyone reading this story of mine, I call for society and the government to invest on shelters. I believe if there was a shelter in my area, I could not have been pregnant for the second time.
